One Card, One Truth: A Badass Blog Begins

A few months ago, one of my employees gifted me a box of affirmation cards with hot pink lettering that proudly declares: “Reclaim your power and become unfuckwithable.” Obviously, it was love at first sight.

The idea is simple: each card offers a bold, no-BS affirmation meant to remind you who you are... especially on the days when imposter syndrome creeps in or your calendar is chaos. So when I sat down to write this blog (finally), I pulled a card.

It read: “I am the captain of my ship, steering towards success.”

Not waiting for success. Not hoping the wind changes. Not asking for permission to move forward. Steering. Choosing. Leading.

I sat with that for a minute.

Because here's the thing... I don't always feel like a captain. Sometimes I feel like a crew member below deck, keeping everything running while dodging cannon balls and shouting over crashing waves. Sometimes I feel like the woman who got her start in design, stepped into the world of commercial real estate, changed her title, shifted her rhythm of life… and just kept showing up.

But when I zoom out, I can see it: I’ve been steering the whole time. Through the rebrands, restructures, team-building, and culture shifts. Through speaking up when it was uncomfortable. Through choosing growth (mine and my team's) even when it meant changing course.

Success didn’t come from waiting for someone to hand me the wheel. It came from quietly (or no so quietly) grabbing it.

This blog isn’t about arriving. It’s about documenting the messy, meaningful work of steering... toward creativity, confidence, clarity, and the kind of leadership that isn’t loud but damn sure is powerful.

If you’re reading this, maybe you’re holding your own wheel right now. Maybe it feels heavy. Maybe you’re not sure where you're headed next. But you’re still steering. And that matters.
