(Spoiler: it’s a phone call.)

Okay, there’s no affirmation card today.

Just vibes. And by vibes, I mean: I. Am. Over. It. If you’ve ever wanted a behind-the-scenes look at what slowly breaks a person, welcome to my TED Talk...

Let me paint the picture: It’s 10:12 a.m. and I’ve already taken 24...ope make that 25 calls. By 4:00 p.m.? That number has doubled maybe tripled. And they are all spam calls, not a single one was a real inquiry about one of our listings.

Instead?

  • “Are you satisfied with your cable provider?”

  • “Would you like to talk about your car’s extended warranty?”

  • And my personal favorite: the long silence followed by a beep, then a hang-up.

Here’s the thing... I have to answer the phone. It’s part of my job. I help cover calls for our office, and unfortunately, every ring might be a serious client or lead. We can’t just not answer - especially with over 200+ signs out there directing people to our number.

We’re already on the Do Not Call list. Spoiler alert: it’s apparently as effective as yelling into a void. We’ve tried blocking numbers, but they just rotate. Sometimes I can literally hear the other call center agents in the background while they fumble their way through their script.

I’m not even a big phone person to begin with, text me, email me, send a smoke signal before you expect me to willingly pick up a call from an unknown number. And now? Between the spam and the scams, I’ve become even more unpersonable when I hear the phone ring. My coworkers get the look - you know, the one that says, “If this is someone trying to sell me another solar panel, I swear…”

And honestly, I know I’m not alone in this... I can't be.

Spam calls are the modern version of door-to-door salespeople, except now they can reach us anytime, anywhere... with no shame and zero success rate. Honestly, I would rather buy Cutco knives at this point.

So today, I’m not sharing any deep revelation or personal growth. Today, I’m just venting.

Because some days, the wins look like silencing your phone during lunch and pretending you don’t exist for 30 beautiful, uninterrupted minutes.

Call me... never

The name CW Design started as a reflection of my early passion for creativity and design. Since then, my journey (and even my name) have evolved, especially after marriage and branching into leadership and communications. While the original “me” who registered this domain has grown and changed, the core of who I am remains: a love for meaningful connections and creating work that truly matters.
